Just out of curiosity I have typed such phrase into Google: "master of magic". Few words of explanation for those who don't know what is the meaning of that. Master of Magic is one of the greatest strategy games ever made. While I was in secondary school I had spent enormous amount of time playing that game (thanks go to Tadek, who shown me the game). I found it far more exciting and challenging than other great game - Civilization. Maybe it was because of the atmosphere and climate, some ocassionally discovered bugs, etc... It was a mystery for me and my friends why there were no attempts to create the open-source version (or some clone, sequel, etc.) of MoM (in order to have something like Civilization II/III or Freeciv (or even the board game) for Civilization or OpenTTD for Transport Tycoon Deluxe).
But coming back to main topic - I searched for that phrase and among the search results I had found something called: "Master of Magic Clone". The about section of the project says that the goal is to create a clone of MoM with such features:
Among the results I have also spotted: "Age of Magic" but sadly the project seems to be dead for some time.
But coming back to main topic - I searched for that phrase and among the search results I had found something called: "Master of Magic Clone". The about section of the project says that the goal is to create a clone of MoM with such features:
- Being able to run under Windows XP
- Allow the multiplayer mode (there was a hack to original MoM, but it was messing with the savegame files, and it wasn't truly multiplayer)
- Playability as close to original MoM as possible
- Improved combat - allow to deploy the troops for battle in a custom formation
- Improved AI - of course original AI was sometimes funny, but some actions (especially during the battle and spellcasting) could be considered stupid...
Among the results I have also spotted: "Age of Magic" but sadly the project seems to be dead for some time.
